Tarot: Future Predictor or Dream Creator

Just like most people in today's world, my only real exposure to tarot was what I saw in movies and TV shows. It seemed dark and scary and evil at worst, where it was going to tell you that you or a loved one are about to die! Or a way for someone to tell you when you'll meet your prince charming at best. But I started to see it being mentioned more and more and thought it was time to do some good old fashioned internet research to find out what it really was.

To my surprise I found that there are all sorts of reasons and ways that people use tarot. I didn't come across any thankfully that matched the evil or dark and scary media portrayal that I was used to. There are some though that do use it as a way to predict, or attempt to predict the future for someone. It's not that I don't think there are those that are capable of predicting at least some things about the future, but rather that it's not the most useful thing to know most of the time.

There are times where we all receive messages or nudges in some way, shape or form that encourage us to do something or to perhaps not do something, but that all points to the fact that the future is not set in stone as we have at every moment free will to make different choices that may alter the current trajectory. And there may be some that are still good at predicting all of those changes and choices but except in certain circumstances that's usually not the most empowering information to have. For example, what if you find out that you're going to meet the love of your life soon but finding that out makes you complacent and you stop taking the actions that were putting you on that path and now you end up on a different one and don't meet your love after all?

But what I stumbled upon was a method for using tarot that truly spoke to me and lit up my soul in a way that I never expected. A completely empowering and beautiful use of tarot that puts the querent into the driver's seat of their life and gives them information that they can then USE to help them make decisions or take actions that will help get them where they want or need to go.

Instead of asking questions like "when will I meet by future spouse?" or "will I get that promotion?" asking questions that give you more useful information such as "what can I do to manifest meeting my future spouse?" or "how can I create more purpose in my career?" or "what do I need to know about providing financially for my family?" actually helps you to create the life that you're dreaming of rather than just hoping that it finds you.

So can you use tarot to predict the future? Maybe. It depends on who is doing the reading and if they truly have the intuition or psychic abilities to do so, and then also if that trajectory isn't changed between the reading and the event. But is it really that useful? That's up to the person seeking the reading to decide. But, in my opinion there is a much more useful and helpful way to utilize tarot. To use it as a tool to help you craft the future of your dreams, to help you live a more joyful, fulfilling, or purposeful life, or to discover what you need to know to help you manifest whatever it is that you're truly drawn to.
